Clanbrassil Street and St. Nicholas Quarter Rejuvenation Scheme, Dundalk

The Clanbrassil Street and St Nicholas Quarter rejuvenation scheme was completed in March 2020. This street once had all the hallmarks of a space that was designed for large vehicles rather than public realm users. Wide carriageways, a lack of crossing points and no space for social gatherings were problematic issues highlighted by the team early on in the design process. The project represents a bold move from vehicular dominance to pedestrian priority with narrower carriageways, wider footpaths and increased outdoor space. It exemplifies good placemaking for the centre of Dundalk, which is especially relevant during the current health crisis.

Grey 2 Green Phase 2

This Grey to Green Phase 2 project has transformed part of the inner ring road from ‘grey to green’. Works involved extensive reconfiguration of carriageways and footpaths and installation of high-quality paving. An eye-catching display of public art, bespoke street furniture, lighting, flower beds and trees were also installed to transform the area. The project was delivered over 2 phases, both by nmcn and has contributed to significant improvement to the Sheffield City Centre area, improving footfall and dramatically improving water retention, providing greater resilience against flooding seen during periods of high rainfall.

Pooley New Bridge

Pooley Bridge (town) is the North-Eastern gate into the Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a uniquely beautiful landscape. The original Pooley Bridge was a Grade II listed 3-span stone arch, built in 1764, washed away by the floods caused by Strom Desmond in 2015. The Pooley new Bridge is a unique and exceptionally slender 40mspan open-spandrel arch with an innovative composite stainless-steel and high-strength concrete structure, becoming a fitting addition to the site and replacing the old crossing also as a public space, and the background of the daily views of the community.

Princes Avenue STEP

Amey Consulting's team in Liverpool led the design and the project management on the Princes Avenue project which was part of Liverpool City Region’s Sustainable Transport Enhancement Package (STEP) Scheme, which was officially opened by Liverpool City Council on the 17 Sept 2020.

A key feature of this scheme was the introduction of a 1km long cycle path and pedestrian walkway within the central reservation – a first for Liverpool. The scheme aimed to improve active sustainable transport and enhance both the cycle and pedestrian connectivity between south Liverpool and the City centre.
