This 'exceptional performing' accolade is only awarded by EPA reviewers for the highest level of performance. The EPA reviewers who conducted Aaron’s interview made the following statement: “Aaron has a superb knowledge of Standards, Codes, Legislation and health and safety. He was polished, professional and his responses filled the reviewers with the upmost confidence”.
CIHT would like to extend their sincere congratulations to Aaron and to all of those who have supported his development. It is great to see that we have people who will be in a prime position to help us inspire the next generation and we hope to see further exceptional candidates emerging as the EPA process continues. CIHT are proud to work alongside Leeds College of Building who supported Aaron’s development.
Jonathan Hazell, Senior Transport Planner at Mott Macdonald said: “The CIHT reviewers stating that Aaron is an outstanding candidate is a reflection on the dedication and commitment that he has shown both on the job and during his studies since 2018. He has received internal company awards and was recognised in the North East CIHT Apprentice of the Year awards. Combined with his recent EPA success, this makes a hat-trick of celebrations. Well done Aaron!”.
Aaron Frater, Transport Planning Apprentice at Mott Macdonald said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have passed my End Point Assessment – the Apprenticeship has been exciting, challenging and rewarding, and the CIHT has been a great help throughout. The institution has a comprehensive development pathway including information on the EPA process, a virtual library for all members and a range of events and webinars to support your Continuous Professional Development”.

Transport Planning Technician Apprenticeship
In 2016, CIHT became the End Point Assessment (EPA) organisation for the Level 3 Transport Planning Technician Apprenticeship, which offers an ideal first step to a career in Transport Planning. This apprenticeship opens up access to the profession, improves the career prospects for school leavers and helps to improve the skills shortages within the sector. Apprentices can study at Leeds College of Building or Vision West Nottingham College and take their End Point Assessment (which includes assessment for EngTech) through the CIHT, the only approved End Point Assessment Organisation that delivers this standard.
