Winner of the 2020 award will have a unique opportunity to shadow the Institution’s President Martin Tugwell – who is England’s Economic Heartland’s programme director – as well as boost their reputation and career prospects.

The Apprentice of the Year will be revealed next month during CIHT’s Young Professionals Festival of Learning, which takes place online from 19 to 23 October following the deadline for submissions on 11 September.

Current Apprentice of the Year is Jack Smith of Arup (pictured with Martin Tugwell). “Since winning the award it has showcased my profile within the company and has made my CV more valuable within project bids,” he said. “I feel that winning the award has also helped to encourage apprenticeships and displayed the benefits of hiring apprentices.”

Winner of the 2020 award will also receive a trophy and £100 prize money, while all entrants will be placed into a prize draw with the chance to win a £50 voucher.

The opportunity to shadow Martin Tugwell includes a series of one to one discussions over the course of the year and the chance to attend meetings – either virtually or physically – covering his work with England’s Economic Heartland and CIHT.
