‘Being part of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) offers a range of benefits that can enhance an individual's professional and personal development.
I have personally benefitted from being a graduate member of CIHT by having the opportunity to network with a range of people across the transportation industry including engineers, transport planners and sustainable transport researchers. The Emerging Professional (EP) conference was a great opportunity to network with other emerging professionals to share knowledge and experiences as well as build valuable relationships that will be useful for the rest of my career. Being part of CIHT and the current winner of the Emerging Professional of the Year Award has also allowed me to network with current and past presidents of the Institution which has given me an insight into their careers and ask them for guidance and advice.
CIHT provides lots of continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities such as webinars, lunch and learn sessions and focus groups for research. I particularly enjoyed being part of the Transport Digital Skills Gap briefing policy focus group. It was great to hear the views of others in the industry and see where there are similarities and differences in Digital Skills. It was a real eye opener to where continuous improvement is needed to develop the industry.
Not only does CIHT provide all of the above, but being a member provides recognition which can enhance your career prospects and make you stand out! I wish I joined as a student member as it opens the door to so many learning opportunities which may guide your future career options that you haven’t even discovered yet, as well as it is free to join! You can also be part of more than one professional body so there is even more opportunities to network! ’
Join other savvy professionals just like you at CIHT. We are committed to fulfilling your professional development needs throughout your career
