This event saw a number of stakeholders come together to hear about the latest update on BCOE, its purpose and the story so far.
Emma Ward, Director General for Roads, Places and Environment Group at the Department for Transport (DfT) gave an excellent keynote where she reiterated DfT’s support for the Bus Centre of Excellence and spoke about the important role buses play in our everyday lives.
The event also saw the confirmation of Leon Daniels as chair of the BCOE Advisory Board.
The original announcement of BCoE was made in the Government’s Bus Strategy (2021) and is a welcome complement to the investment and changes proposed in the strategy. The BCoE will be a key part of improving the delivery of bus services through helping to bring together knowledge and expertise from across the sector, providing training and sharing best practice.
Future initiatives will see the launch of a knowledge hub and community forums as well as practical training and events to upskill the bus industry.
