CIHT and the Bus Centre of Excellence (BCoE) teamed up with the London Transport Museum to deliver a special industry event on preparing for a modal shift to bus.   

The event, which took place in Birmingham yesterday (22nd May), was attended by senior business leaders including service operators, manufacturers, policy makers and local authorities. Discussions centred on exploring how operators and local authorities can work together to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable services. 

The workshop covered a range of topics, including:  

• How to ensure that the bus industry understands the needs of its passengers from a social inclusion perspective. 
• How data plays a key role in improving outcomes for passengers and how bus industry professionals can work collaboratively to collect accurate data and use it effectively to deliver insight led services. 
• How delivery models such as enhanced partnerships and bus franchising can be used to overcome obstacles within the bus industry.

The event forms part of the London Transport Museum’s thought leadership initiative Interchange and a paper, capturing the findings of the workshop, will be available to download from the BCoE website when published.
