The Transport Select Committee (TSC) this week published its reports on Better roads: Improving England's Strategic Road Network and the National Policy Statement on National Networks.

CIHT submitted evidence to both of these enquiries and a number of the Institution's recommendations have been taken on board. These included:

•    The benefits provided by having a certainty of funding
•    Need for an integrated transport strategy
•    Need to focus on customer needs
•    Need to look at other funding streams
•    Need to understand the needs of development on the local network

CIHT is pleased that these points were accepted and highlighted in the reports and will continue to work with the Department and TSC to follow up on these objectives.
