This week the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) was asked by the Department for Transport to take part in an evidence session for the ‘Transport Resilience Review’.

The Institution was represented by David Quarmby, CIHT Special Policy Advisor, and Matthew Lugg OBE, CIHT Council member.

During the session CIHT and the Institute of Highway Engineers provided oral evidence supporting their written submissions to the call for evidence earlier this month.

The evidence session covered the potential exposure of the transport network to extreme weather (floods of all kinds, storms and extreme heat), the ability to operate under such conditions and plans for adapting to a changing climate.

CIHT also held a seminar in London this week entitled Implementing Asset Management which saw 50 experts from the sector debate the importance of Asset Management. The issue will also be debated at the CIHT Council next month.
