CIHT has today held a meeting of the Department for Transport’s Road Signs Taskforce.

This taskforce overseen by Sir Alan Duncan MP has been established to tackle the overuse of traffic signs. This forms part of the government’s ongoing work to make roads safer and navigation easier for motorists, scrap unnecessary red tape, and declutter roads.

CIHT is providing the secretariat and technical support for this group. Today’s meeting provides an opportunity for client organisations, trade organisations and professional bodies to:
  • Hear the Department and the task force chair, Sir Alan Duncan, explain the reasons behind the task force;
  • To share the current thinking and format of the Task Force’s report;
  • To discuss the issues arising with organisations in the sector in an open manner;
  • To use feedback from the discussions to inform the final report of the task force;
The workshop will be chaired by Peter Dickinson, Chair of CIHT’s Urban Design Panel.
