The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) has become a signatory for the  B.E. Inclusive initiative. B.E. Inclusive is a collaborative drive by nine professional bodies in the built environment sector to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),  CIHT has joined with the Chartered Institute of Building, the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Landscape Institute, the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Royal Town Planning Institute, the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, and the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors. This  collaboration aims to create  a more diverse, equitable and inclusive sector that would better serve diverse communities. 

Together, these institutions are committed to improving data collection, understanding transitions from education to employment, and developing EDI competences to foster a more inclusive profession. 

The MoU continues the work of the B.E. Inclusive group and builds on the success of the six original signatories in April 2022.

Looking forward, B.E. Inclusive will explore more areas for closer collaboration and coordination around learning and development, inspiring and retaining diverse and emerging talent, and providing stronger support for those who have taken career breaks returning to the industry
