On Friday 17 October, CIHT proudly participated in Transport for London’s ‘Streets’ Division event held at Endeavour Square, Stratford. The event brought together over 130 colleagues from across TfL’s highways and streets teams, including traffic engineers, planners, project managers, and health & safety leads. The aim of the day was to foster a stronger professional community and promote development opportunities.

Representing CIHT were Beth Boulding and Sally Devine, who hosted a dedicated market stall in Boardroom 2 adjacent to the main auditorium. Across four rotating sessions, CIHT engaged with groups of delegates, delivering short presentations and facilitating informal Q&A discussions focused on membership benefits and the CIHT Learn platform

TfL’s commitment to professional growth was evident, with confirmation that the organisation sponsors one professional membership per employee. This message resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom expressed keen interest in CIHT qualifications and membership pathways.

The event also highlighted CIHT’s growing relationship with TfL, with Joan Roemmele noting the value of TfL’s participation in CIHT’s Public Sector Partnerships Network.

Reflecting on the day, Beth Boulding shared:

It was a pleasure to speak to so many of the team. Lots of people were interested in professional qualifications and CIHT membership, and we’ll be following up accordingly. We’d be very keen to attend similar events in the future.

Rob Semple, Strategic Operations Manager at Transport for London shared:

Feedback from attendees about the event was really positive, and your part giving an insight into possibilities around development and learning in the highways space really helped to bolster our message around fostering a streets community in TfL.

Carl Eddleston, Director of Streets & Network Operations at Transport for London shared:

Thank you both for coming along and making our teams feel part of a bigger and professional community. This stuff really matters.
