CIHT has launched a new match‑funding offer to help employers continue investing in supervisor training during a period of change in Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) funding arrangements.

From today, CIHT Learn will match CITB Employer Network contributions for Supervisor Skills Level 1 (SSL1) and Supervisor Skills Level 2 (SSL2). This reduces the cost to employers from £250 to £175 per learner, providing a clear, low‑administration alternative to more complex funding routes.
The offer is designed to support contractors and employers who are facing uncertainty as CITB funding transitions to new structures and varying match‑funding levels, helping them continue developing supervisory capability without delays, additional form‑filling or extended approval processes.

Supporting supervisor development without disruption

The approach offers a straightforward route for employers who need certainty and simplicity when planning workforce development.
Supervisor Skills Level 1 and Level 2
Developed by the Supply Chain Safety Leadership Group (SCSLG) and delivered by CIHT Learn, the Supervisor Skills pathway provides modern, digital, on‑demand training designed specifically for operational highways teams.
Supervisor Skills Level 1 (SSL1)
SSL1 includes nine modules that build core supervisory competence:
SSL1 is aimed at new and aspiring supervisors, apprentices, and operational staff preparing for supervisory site roles.
Supervisor Skills Level 2 (SSL2)
SSL2 builds on this foundation with ten advanced modules focused on leadership, performance and culture:
SSL2 prepares supervisors to lead larger teams, manage more complex activities and positively influence behaviours and safety culture on site.
Both levels are delivered through a digital, on‑demand format, allowing learners to fit training around shifts, operational pressures and geographically dispersed teams.
