The CIHT National Conference has returned this week (13 May), in Central London for the first time since 2019. The theme of the conference was ‘Roads to Net Zero’.
This event convened leaders and industry representatives from the highways and transportation sector to explore strategies for accelerating the journey toward Net Zero, at both national and regional levels.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with key industry figures, gain insights into policy developments, and discuss innovative solutions aimed at decarbonising the transport and transport infrastructure.
Highlights included an in-conversation style session with Minister for the Future of Roads, Lilian Greenwood MP and CIHT Chief Executive, Sue Percy CBE, presentation from Louis Worthington, Head of Infrastructure, Climate Change Committee on ‘What does the latest carbon budget, mean for you, your organisation and the wider transport sector?’, A discussion session on how governments are looking to meet targets for decarbonisation for emission reduction across the United Kingdom, lessons learned from other sectors and what are the expectations as clients for the wider transport sector to step up to the challenge.
