Neil contributed to a dedicated segment highlighting how vehicles obstructing pavements create daily challenges for pedestrians—particularly disabled people, older adults, families with prams, and anyone with mobility needs. He outlined the complexity of current regulations, which vary across the UK, and emphasised the barriers that poorly parked vehicles create for equitable access to streets and public spaces.
Speaking after the broadcast, Neil said it was a “great opportunity for CIHT to contribute a professional voice to an important transport issue.”
His appearance reflects CIHT’s ongoing commitment to promoting accessible, inclusive, and safe streets—an area where the Institution continues to act as a trusted voice, providing evidence-based insight and championing good practice across the highways and transportation sector.
The segment aired as part of Morning Live’s 6 February 2026 programme and is available to view on BBC iPlayer for the next 12 months.
