Richard Llewellyn, Chair of CIHT’s Education and Professional Development Strategy Board said ‘One of CIHT’s primary objectives is to support its members’ professional development and provide access to professional registration.  The renewal of our licence for another 5 years is confirmation that our assessment systems and processes are robust and that members who gain registration through CIHT have satisfactorily demonstrated their competence to the national standards set down by the Engineering Council’.

‘We’re delighted that our Engineering Council licence has been extended for another 5 years’ said CIHT CEO, Sue Percy. ‘We are very fortunate to have a brilliant group of volunteers who act as assessors, reviewers, and mentors for members seeking registration and our thanks go to them for all their support. We look forward to more of our members achieving professional registration, which is a benefit not only for them but also their employers and the sector as a whole’.

Over 1,400 members are registered with the Engineering Council through CIHT, and that number is growing every year. To provide more options for members to progress to registration, the Institution is piloting an Experiential Learning route to CEng for senior engineers who hold an accredited BEng(hons) degree or registration as an Incorporated Engineer.  The pilot will run throughout 2023.
