The built environment shapes how people live, work and move through the world. Yet the voices leading and designing these spaces have not always reflected the diversity of the communities they serve. This event, led by BE Inclusive will bring that challenge into focus, creating space for open discussion, shared learning and meaningful action.
The afternoon event will bring together some of the most influential voices from across the built environment to explore inclusive design, policymaking and leadership, and to consider how the sector can move beyond conversation to deliver measurable change.
Sue Percy CBE FCIHT, Chief Executive of CIHT, said:
“Creating an inclusive built environment starts with ensuring that the profession itself reflects the diversity of the people and communities it serves. International Women’s Day provides an important opportunity to challenge ourselves, share experience and commit to practical action that drives lasting change across our sector.”
Influential voices from across the sector
Attendees will hear from a wide range of leaders and practitioners, including our very own Sue Percy CBE, Dr Victoria Hills, Elizabeth Joseph Adigun, Lorraine Williamson, Alex Pearsall (née Axford) FCInstCES, Sumita Singha OBE Hon DSc, Ann Vanner, Amaya Sophia Ahmed and Ruth Lin Wong Holmes.
The event will also feature a keynote address from Faye Allen BSc (Hons), PgDL, FRICS, MAE, author of Building Women, who will share insight on leadership, representation and driving systemic change within the built environment.
From discussion to action
More than a celebration, the event aims to support real progress by encouraging collaboration, accountability and shared commitment across organisations and disciplines. By bringing together diverse perspectives, BE Inclusive and its member organisations, including CIHT, are helping to shape a more equitable future for the profession.
