The CIHT Technical Panels held their second round of meetings this June. The panels discussed everything from planning legislation and sustainability, tactical urbanism to the barriers to innovation facing tier 2 and 3 suppliers in the highways sector.

CIHT's Technical Panels meet 3 times a year to discuss key issues facing the sector and to develop outputs that benefit the CIHT membership. The Technology and Innovation Panel discussed Simulation-as-a-Service, software that creates detailed simulations of people, places and mobility. Panel member Dave Williams from Immense Simulations provided the presentation which is available here.
The panel also discussed the Young Professionals T&I challenge which is currently open for entries.
The Asset Management Panel heard from Steven Dennis from the Office of Road and Rail (ORR). Steven gave the panel insight in to how the ORR hold Highways England and Network Rail to account and how the ORR are involved with Road Investment Strategy 2. Simon Morgan from Buchanan Computing presented on the topic of map-based traffic orders to the Network Management and Operations Panel.
