CIHT’s consultation responses help ensure the views and expertise of our members and the wider sector are heard by government and policymakers. Your contributions can have a real impact, with CIHT being invited to give oral evidence to Parliamentary Transport Committees following consultation responses, as well as helping to shape media coverage and wider public debates.

Drawing on the expertise of its members, technical networks and professional partners, CIHT will be contributing to consultations covering transport investment, innovation, road safety, public transport, place-making and skills development. The programme reflects the breadth of issues affecting the highways, transport and infrastructure sector and provides opportunities for members to help shape future policy and practice.

CIHT is planning to respond to the parliamentary inquiry on Revitalising High Streets, which is seeking evidence on the future of town and city centres, as well as the consultation on proposed Road Investment Strategy 3 (RIS3) changes, which has implications for future investment in England's strategic road network.

Later in the year, CIHT will contribute evidence to the Transport Committee's call on Safer journeys for women and girls and the inquiry on Getting to work: transport connecting young people to jobs and training. These consultations focus on improving personal safety across transport networks and ensuring transport systems support access to employment, education and skills opportunities.

CIHT's consultation responses are developed through engagement with members and stakeholders, ensuring that recommendations are informed by professional expertise and practical experience from across the sector. Responses are reviewed through the institution's established governance processes before submission.
