The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation was pleased to welcome a delegation from the Hong Kong Institution of Highways and Transportation (HKIHT) to its London headquarters on Monday (12 October), bringing together representatives from both organisations for a morning of professional exchange, learning and collaboration.

Hosted at CIHT’s offices in Britannia Walk, the visit brought together members of the HKIHT delegation, including HKIHT President Alfred Leung, HKIHT Vice President Vincent Chan and Secretary General Ken Lui, alongside CIHT representatives including CIHT President Kate Carpenter, Chief Executive Sue Percy CBE, Director of Policy and Technical Affairs Antoneta Horbury and International Coordinator Lindsay Greatbatch.

The programme began with a joint exchange session between CIHT and HKIHT, providing an opportunity for both organisations to share insights on current priorities, professional development, industry challenges and future opportunities within the highways and transportation sector.

A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CIHT and HKIHT. The agreement, signed by both CIHT and HKIHT Presidents, as well as CIHT Chief Executive and HKIHT's Secretary General, outlines the mutual understanding and collaboration between both institutions and reflects a shared commitment to supporting professional excellence, knowledge sharing and international collaboration across the engineering profession.

Following the signing ceremony, delegates attended a presentation from the Bus Centre of Excellence. Delivered by Stakeholder Engagement Manager Andrew Steele, the session showcased the centre’s work to support the development of skills and best practice across the bus sector.

During the exchange session, CIHT also shared updates on a range of technical and policy initiatives, giving delegates an insight into the Institution's current work programme, including key projects, research and reports helping to shape the future of transport and infrastructure across the UK.

The visit formed part of CIHT’s ongoing commitment to strengthening relationships with professional institutions around the world and fostering opportunities for international collaboration. CIHT looks forward to utilising more valuable opportunities for networking, discussion and the sharing of experiences between professionals working across the transport and infrastructure sectors.
