The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) is delighted to welcome the 2026 CIHT Hong Kong Study Tour delegation to London this week, marking the start of an extensive programme of technical visits, professional exchange and international collaboration.

The study tour is one of CIHT Hong Kong's flagship professional development initiatives, designed to broaden participants' understanding of highways, transportation and infrastructure delivery through first-hand engagement with leading organisations, major projects and industry experts across the UK.

Over the coming days, delegates will explore how the UK transport sector is responding to some of the profession's most significant challenges and opportunities, including sustainable mobility, public realm transformation, active travel, infrastructure delivery and future transport planning.

The programme will provide participants with the opportunity to engage directly with professionals from across government, industry and academia. Planned visits include meetings with representatives from the Department for Transport, the Bus Centre of Excellence and CIHT Headquarters, alongside site visits to major infrastructure and public realm projects, including the Aldwych Strand transformation, St Paul's Public Realm improvements and the HS2 Old Oak Common construction site.

Delegates will also meet with leading academics and practitioners to learn more about the role of research, innovation and people-centred design in shaping future transport systems. These discussions will provide valuable insights into policy development, governance structures and the practical delivery of projects that support safer, more sustainable and inclusive communities.
