CIHT Yorkshire and the Humber is partnering with UK Unplugged CIC and Mobility Policy Lab to deliver an exciting project aimed at creating transport activity boxes for neurodivergent young people and engage with them about transport.

These "Transport Boxes" have already been successfully trialled in Merseyside, bringing together transport professionals, children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), those from low income backgrounds or engaged with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The Transport Box contains several interactive games aimed at teaching young people about transport and helping them to 'unplug’ from their devices.

The initiative has now received additional funding through the Royal Academy of Engineering's "Ingenious" scheme to expand the Transport Box to additional cities, including Leeds. 

To deliver this initiative, we are recruiting CIHT members to help tailor the transport box to the city of Leeds. This will involve taking part in a co-design session with other participants, as well as testing the box with young people. All participants will receive training for working with SEND/CAMHS children. The minimum time input is approximately 7 hours over the next four months, which can count towards CPD and Social Value commitments.
