From 2015, the DfT will be devolving funding for major transport schemes to Local Transport Bodies (LTBs), which are made up of Local Transport Authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs).  It is the role of the LTBs to manage the funding, review and approve business cases for schemes and ensure effective delivery of the programme from 2015 to 2019.

On the 21st November, the South Western branch hosted a seminar titled "Devolving Major Schemes".  The seminar shared experiences from the LEP areas across the South West on how the new process is being implemented, and also how authorities are seeking to address transport and economic challenges within their areas.
