The Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award recognises the successful development of innovative ideas in engineering. The Award is open to any individual or organisation of any size in the public, private or charitable sectors. Applications are invited for engineering innovations in any area of science, engineering, medicine or technology.

The main criteria by which entries are judged are:

innovation
commercial success
benefit to the community

A team of distinguished Academy Fellows selects a short-list of finalists, all of whom are invited to participate in the Royal Academy of Engineering Awards Dinner held annually in the summer and at which the winner will be announced. The winning organisation is honoured with a gold medal, and each of the individual nominees (no more than five) with a bronze medal and a shared cash prize of £50,000.

Details on how and why to apply for the MacRobert Award 2013 can be found in the brochure. All submissions are invited to be made electronically via the Royal Academy of Engineering website at www.raeng.org.uk/prizes/macrobert. Closing date: 31 January 2013.
