One in six projects funded by Growing Places being used to support transport infrastructure improvements
DCLG research has revealed that 17% of local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) are using the Growing Places Fund to improve transport infrastructure. The findings come from an analysis of the results provided by all 39 local enterprise partnerships in England in December 2012 on their use of the Growing Places Fund. The report stated that the majority of projects are looking to improve either the accessibility of development sites (29% of all projects) or site preparation (32%)
A short survey was completed in December 2012 on how local enterprise partnerships are using the Growing Places Fund. The results capture information on the projects agreed by January 2013, the expected outcomes and the reasons why the local enterprise partnerships are using the Growing Places Fund in the ways they have reported. Additional data collected in February and March shows that 85% of capital funding has been allocated.
The Growing Places Fund enables the development of local funds to address infrastructure constraints, promoting economic growth and the delivery of jobs and houses.
