With the Olympic and Paralympic Games, transportation is about to face one of its biggest peace time challenges, in London and the South East at least, but there will be impacts all over the country.
CIHT would like its members as qualified transportation professionals to help assess the success of travel planning for the Games and draw the lessons for Legacy to contribute to the Legacy discussions that will take place in the year after London 2012.
We would like to hear from members who are travelling to the Games themselves, or for work, or general activities, during the Olympics and Paralympics to report back on their experiences good and bad.
The research will apply to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Questions we would like your help to respond to will include:
What day and time you are reporting on?
Where you are from and your journey start, the destination and route?
Was there enough information?
What modes of travel did you use?
Did you change your travel plans?
Did the Games affect you in terms of congestion and travel time?
Did you use the various mobile information resources that exist or are being launched for the Games?
What worked, what didn’t?
Mark out of 10 for your travel experience.
Any other anecdotal information you wish to share.
We are hoping for a big response to this from the Membership to give weight to our findings. Please take the opportunity to get involved. Transportation Professional's next issue will detail a preview of 10 Members travel plans. Please email
Daniel.Isichei@ciht.org.uk by 25 July if you would like to become involved.
