National Highways has commissioned Atkins and Jacobs to look at the issue of ‘highway clutter’, how it occurs, the benefits of reducing clutter and making recommendations to address the problem. It follows concerns expressed by the National Highways Strategic Design Panel (SDP) to ensure the delivery of National Highways ‘road to good design’ principles. This aligns with the  Department for Transport’s objective to minimise visual clutter. 

National Highways are looking to obtain views on the issue of ‘highway clutter’,

As highway professionals, you can influence the critical process of delivering good design on the National Highways Strategic Road Network. Your insight, thoughts and ideas would be much appreciated. This short survey will take about 10- 15 minutes. We are seeking responses by 12th August 2022.
