The Highways Agency has promoted one of the architects of its Asset Support Contracts and hired new private sector experience to replace outgoing Deputy Chief Executive Derek Turner who retires in June.
Current procurement division director David Poole (pictured top) has been appointed to the role of director, commercial and procurement bringing together what had been two divisions (commercial and procurement) into one new directorate.
Mr Poole’s new directorate will continue building strong collaborative relationships with the Agency’s suppliers while reducing unit costs, the HA said.
From July Lend Lease project director and former head of its PFI operation Global Renewables David Brewer (pictured below) will take on the role of director, asset delivery succeeding Mr Turner.
Mr Brewer previously worked for BAA at Gatwick and was involved in the transformation programme prior to the sale of the airport in 2010.
Both men will sit on the Highways Agency board.
David Poole said: “The Agency and its extended tiers of suppliers have made significant progress in recent years to create a more dynamic environment with a keen focus on service and cost drivers, but we have more to do.”
