The Government has released the final self-assessment process for the £578m highways incentive fund for 2016 to 2017. Local highway authorities outside London must complete this questionnaire to receive the incentive element of highways maintenance funding.
Documents, released on Monday 21 December 2015, contain the final information on the Local Highways Maintenance Incentive Fund. These include: Guidance, Indicative Allocations and a Questionnaire for the Highways maintenance funding incentive element for 2016 to 2017. Local highway authorities in England (outside London) must return the completed questionnaire to Department for Transport (DfT) by 31 January 2016.
The DfT have also released the Highways Maintenance Appraisal Tool (HMAT) which aims to provide a better understanding of the full benefits of highways maintenance. The tool is designed to enable local highway authorities to assess the economic costs and benefits of proposed asset management strategies and compare the different options.
