Mott MacDonald director Richard Chinn (pictured far left) has been appointed as chairman of the Highways Term Maintenance Association, taking over from Tony Gates (also pictured). Richard steps up from his role as acting vice chairman and will serve as chairman for two years.
“I am delighted to be taking on this role, it is a real privilege,” he said. “The Association has grown to 29 members and nine associate members and our influence within the industry is spreading. Collectively we have a strong voice and can make a real impact.”
Richard adds that he will ensure the HTMA continues to work closely with other industry bodies to reinforce to Government the importance of properly maintained road networks and the contribution they provide to the economy.
Former chairman Tony Gates of Balfour Beatty will remain as an ex-officio member of the HTMA executive board for 12 months. “I have enjoyed my time as chairman and have been encouraged to see how the members and industry have been innovative in their response to the funding cuts, challenges of delivering greater efficiencies and developing good practice for better ways of working,” he said.
“Richard brings with him a great deal of experience and knowledge of both public and private sectors, which will benefit the Association. I am confident that through his strong leadership and people management skills, HTMA will only get stronger.”
Other changes to the HTMA’s executive board see Bill Taylor of Ringway Infrastructure Services become vice chair and Peter McDermott of CH2M Hill become an executive board member. Executive director Geoff Allister remains on the executive board.
