Sir David Higgins, the new chairman of HS2 Ltd, has today published his review of the HS2 Project.

Sir David’s report proposes:

•    That amendments to Phase 1, including developing a new hub at Crewe will enable benefits, particularly to the Midlands and the north, to be achieved quickly
•    Recommendations about connectivity to conventional rail improvements in the midlands and the north, improving the effectiveness of the whole project
•    Removing the HS2-HS1 link proposals from the Bill
•    That redevelopment of Euston station will bring significant benefits
•    Confirms that the proposed budget is appropriate

The report has been welcomed by Government and the Opposition.

CIHT have called for greater certainty and speed of delivery for the project to bring forward benefits and welcome Sir David’s report.
