Overview

This podcast explores CIHT's review of the local highway network in England, Improving Local Highways (2020). The review was undertaken in a similar time frame to the July 2019 report of the UK Parliament Transport Select Committee  into the
subject. The report acknowledges that the local highway network is receiving insufficient funding and sets out a four-point strategy to put the local highway network on a route to a better future.

This review has been underpinned by extensive engagement with CIHT members and key
sector bodies involved in the local highway network.

The podcast starts with an introduction from Ginny Clarke, Chair of the CIHT Learned Society and Technical Strategy Board, Andrew Hugill from CIHT, Steve Gooding, Director at RAC Foundation, Matthew Lugg, Head of Profession at WSP, Mike O'Dowd Jones, Strategic Commissioning Lead at Somerset County Council.
