Latest technology and innovative thinking for the highways sector will be discussed at a major conference and exhibition which gets under way in Birmingham in less than a month’s time.
Highways UK – hosted at the National Exhibition centre on 16-17 November – will feature some 100 speakers across its two days with the event’s main conference supported by free industry briefings and keynote sessions.
One of the key attractions for those interested in innovation will be the ‘Intelligent Infrastructure Hub’ which, through a combination of displays and presentations, aims to accelerate the uptake of cutting edge technologies.
The Hub is curated by the show’s organisers alongside the Transport Technology Forum, Innovate UK, ITS (UK) and the Transport Systems Catapult.
“An important part of Highways UK’s remit is to showcase innovations and technologies that enable environmental, safety and economic benefits to the road network,” a spokesperson said.
“Increasingly the sector is recognising the opportunities, potential and benefits of intelligent infrastructure and other technology based solutions.
“But the key challenge remains how to accelerate the uptake of these technologies within the highways sector and its established supply chains.”
Industry briefings venue the ‘Dynniq Dome’ will also play host to several free to attend technologically focused sessions, including discussions around autonomous vehicles, predictive traffic flow analysis and software used in the delivery and operation of highways.
Meanwhile paying delegates will be able to hear from experts on ‘innovations in maintenance, materials, procurement and operational practice’ on day one while day two includes a chance to catch a session on ‘data as national infrastructure’.
