James Beaumont and Aaron Schofield - ‘exceptional’ performing candidates

19th Dec 2019

Following their EPA interviews in Manchester on 27/11/2019, it is with great pleasure that we are able to present apprentices James Beaumont and Aaron Schofield from employer ‘Transport for the North’, as ‘exceptional’ performing candidates. This accolade is only awarded by EPA reviewers for the highest level of performance and is a testament to the thought, time and administration that everyone involved in this Apprenticeship has fed into the process.

In 2016 CIHT became the End Point Assessment (EPA) organisation for the Level 3 Transport Planning Technician Apprenticeship.

With skills development and inspiring the next generation being key themes for CIHT in 2020, the Institution continues to engage with Learning Providers, Employers, Apprentices and Apprenticeship Consortiums to deliver the EPA process and the development of further apprenticeship programmes to ensure that current and future skills needs in the sector are met.

The EPA reviewers made the following statement after Aaron and James’ interviews. “The two technicians we reviewed in Manchester (James & Aaron) were looking at the funding bids for road schemes in the north of England and coordinating suggestions from local authorities to get the Transport for the North bid together. They both have that special mix of college academic rigour and practical on the job experience that has made them excellent transport planners who could lead the profession into the second and third decades of this century”.

CIHT would like to extend their sincere congratulations to James and Aaron and to all of those who have supported their development during their apprenticeship. It is great to see that we have people who will be in a prime position to inspire the next generation and we hope to see further exceptional candidates emerging as the EPA process continues.

Sarah Carter from Leeds College of Building stated that, “This is an excellent achievement both for James and Aaron but also all of those involved in the workplace and college environment who have supported them through their apprenticeship”.

James and Aaron state that, “This Apprenticeship has been a great experience and is the starting point to launch our careers in this industry”.
