Japan’s self driving winter fleet

Automated snowploughs are set to enter service in Japan as part of a drive by the country to develop connected and autonomous vehicles.

It plans to introduce satellite systems on its winter maintenance vehicles that combine with highly accurate positioning information and maps.

 

For the time being, drivers will remain in the cab to oversee operations but in future the aim is to introduce driverless winter service vehicles.
