CIHT, representing over 12,000 practitioners in the transportation profession, seeks a proactive, dynamic and enterprising Director of Policy and Technical Affairs. CIHT is well placed to influence transport policy and practice, with members involved in all aspects of the planning, design, building, operation and maintenance of transport systems and infrastructure. We provide a strong, highly respected and independent voice for the transportation industry.

We are seeking an outstanding individual who will be part of the senior management team. You will:

• act as principal adviser to CIHT’s technical board and panels 
• take responsibility for developing and delivering our events programme
• have a key role in raising the profile of transportation and developing our work on professional matters

Focused on quality and delivery you will have the energy and drive to make a difference. A qualified, experienced transportation professional, preferably Chartered Engineer and/or Transport Planning Professional, you will use your technical and influencing skills on a wide stage to improve transport policy, systems and infrastructure.

You will need to:

• be politically aware
• have excellent communication skills and 
• be highly organised

You must have both technical knowledge and understand the wider transportation policy agenda. The role is wide ranging and brings you into contact with a full range of senior figures in the industry.
