A Presidential theme focused on better transport for all

Kate’s Presidential focus, “How are we making better transport for all?”, will explore how transport affects different people in different ways and how the profession can improve outcomes for all users. Through her Presidential year, Kate will encourage the sector to think more broadly about who benefits from transport investment, who faces barriers, and how transport decisions can support both social inclusion and economic prosperity.

During her inauguration address, Kate will draw on her extensive career in transport engineering and road safety, sharing insights from more than three decades working across local government, consultancy and highway safety governance. She will outline why understanding different user experiences is critical to creating transport networks that are safe, inclusive and effective.

A distinguished contribution to the profession

A Fellow of CIHT and Director of Operational Road Safety at Jacobs, Kate has made a significant contribution to both the Institution and the wider profession. She has served as a CIHT Trustee, Council Member, Chair of the Learned Society and Technical Strategy Board and Road Safety Panel and contributor to several key technical steering groups focused on road safety and transport design.

Her Presidential year will build on CIHT’s commitment to evidence-based policy and professional excellence, with a particular focus on understanding transport impacts, identifying gaps in knowledge and promoting better decision-making across the sector.
