The Labour party has launched their 2015 election manifesto today, including a 5-point plan aimed at improving transport in the UK.

The manifesto has been published in full on the Labour website and covers a wide array of political issues.

As part of their plans to improve the transport sector, Labour have stated that they will look to freeze rail fares for one year in order to carry out a comprehensive review of the sector, including a review of the franchising process.

The plans also include changing law to allow a public sector operator to challenge private rail-owning companies and the creation of a new National Rail body to oversee UK railways and plan for their future.
