The Equality and Human Rights Commission has launched a new programme to increase access to justice for people who have experienced discrimination related to age and / or disability in the provision of transport. The Legal Support Project for Transport is aiming to offer advice and support in order to resolve complaints from transport users.

The EHRC also wants to understand more about the barriers disabled and older people face in accessing transport options and that operators are taking the necessary steps to ensure the needs of disabled and older people are included in the current and future design of public transport provision.

The EHRC position is that where they identify potential complaints, they will raise them with service providers or operators on behalf of users and also consider enforcement action, in accordance with their Compliance and Enforcement Policy criteria, if the issues remove unresolved.
