CIHT East Midlands would like to thank Kate Ellis, Assistant Director of Lincoln City Council and Alan Aistrup, Special Projects Officer for Lincolnshire County Council for the excellent presentation on 11th Feb 2016 at the Lincoln Collection.
Plans for a £25 million transport hub in the centre of Lincoln including a new bus and train station, a 1,000 space car park and new pedestrian footbridges were the subject of this year’s joint highways event in Lincolnshire.
The scheme is being led by the City of Lincoln Council in partnership with Lincolnshire Co-op and Network Rail, working with East Midlands Trains and Lincolnshire County Council. Kate’s presentation illustrated how the feasibility for the project has developed into an exciting plan for Lincoln. This was followed by Alan Aistrup’s, presentation on some of the project management aspects and the construction programming.
This annual event was organised jointly by the local Lincolnshire joint highways institutions. (CIHT, IHE and ICE) and attracted one of the higher attendance figures. Delegate feedback indicated this was an interesting and informative explanation of how Lincoln City is promoting growth and how highway infrastructure plays a key role in that aspiration for the County town.
This was considered a successful event jointly organised which offered valued local CPD opportunities for the Lincolnshire membership, all of which was made possible by the voluntary contribution of the two speakers.
