The longest new domestic railway built in Britain for over a century has opened in Scotland. The brand new 30-mile line will run between the Borders town of Tweedbank and Edinburgh.
The line, which was built at a cost of £294m, is expected to carry almost 650,000 passengers a year and will deliver new opportunities for economic growth to the area.
Her Majesty the Queen will officially open the line this Wednesday (9 September) and will travel on a steam train along the entire route.
