For the 2011 Locan Cup the event was held in Nairn which is just east of Inverness. This Links Course is set out adjacent to the Moray Firth with fine views to the North .
Unfortunately because of several factors , this year was not as well supported with only 92 players against the usual c120. The Midlands Branch could only get 3no players to finally make it , teaming up with West Midlands who also could only get 5no players . However, the competition went well and although just some 100 miles south , the Scotland Central belt was being hit by gales Nairn avoided the wind on the practice and competition day but the rain came half way through the competition.
The final result was a win for East Midlands with a score of 119 points leaving our Midland and West Midland combined team in 4th position with 115 points, ‘if only etc etc’ .
The North of Scotland Branch were great hosts with a fine meal and good entertainment which included a Scottish Dancing Display by youngsters accompanied by a Scottish Piper.
Next year the competition will be at the Portal Golf Club in Cheshire 9/10th September 2012.
