The CIHT National Conference has returned today (13 May), in Central London for the first time since 2019. The theme of the conference is ‘Roads to Net Zero’.

The Minister for the Future of Roads - Lilian Greenwood MP, opened the CIHT National Conference 2025 with an in-conversation style session with CIHT Chief Executive, Sue Percy CBE.

The session covered topics including:

• The actions the transport sector needs to double down on to reach net zero
• The steps the government is taking to decarbonise the transport sector
• The government aspiration to make sustainable transport the most convenient choice
• The role of transport decarbonisation in achieving the government’s missions
• Aspirations for the UK to be a green superpower and how that relates to the transport sector

The CIHT National Conference provides a unique opportunity where transport professionals can hear from a variety of stakeholders and industry representatives and contribute to setting the sector's vision for the future and discover what is needed to create a sustainable highways and transportation sector.

CIHT looks forward to continuing to work with the Minister, the Department for Transport, and the government as the UK works towards transport decarbonisation and achieving Net Zero.
