The Big Bang Fair – IHT invests in future engineers

From 4 - 6 March, as part of National Science and Engineering Week, IHT took part in the Big Bang Fair, a mix of exciting shows and workshops encompassing the entire science and engineering spectrum.

Based at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, the fair provided students who are interested in starting a career in science and engineering. The fair featured displays and demonstrations of leading-edge technology, workshops and a special exhibition to showcase inspirational projects.

IHT was on hand to offer guidance and advice to students and to encourage the growth of new talent within the engineering industry.

IHT’s Director of Education & Membership, Sue Stevens said:

“Most students have no idea how varied the job opportunities are within engineering and how important engineers are to society.  The Big Bang Fair is an excellent way of capturing young people’s attention and imagination and encouraging them to think seriously about a career in engineering.”

National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) is a ten day celebration of science, engineering and technology which will run from the 6 - 15 March 2009.  Last year around 1.4 million people attended over 3,500 events across the UK and this year we aim to make it even bigger!

National Science and Engineering Week is coordinated by the British Science Association, funded by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, in partnership with the Engineering Technology Board and is made possible by the hard work and effort of hundreds of event organisers around the country.
