Anyone considering applying for Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP) through the senior route is reminded that this route has been updated to make it clearer how applicants for this route should demonstrate their competency, The senior route is intended for transport planners who have held senior positions in the sector and who have made significant and recognisable contributions to the transport planning profession over the course of their careers. If you are currently at a senior level in your career and didn’t take the standard route to gain CTPP earlier in your career, this route is for you.

 “I have been a transport planner for 20 years, but I had delayed moving things on career-wise as quickly as I maybe should have.” Said Kirsty Davison, who achieved CTPP through the senior route  “Having a family mid-career stalled things, so the option of the senior route opened up opportunities for me to show the breadth and depth of my skills.”

Senior route candidates can now explain how their experience demonstrates the required level for the units of competence by using the updated senior route application form (which is now available for download). Previously, senior route candidates had to write an extended CV and attempt to cross-reference that to the TPP units of competence. Appendices may also be used by them if doing so will assist them show their proficiency.

The TPP Professional Standards Committee encourages anyone who is in the early stages of applying to use the new form. Candidates who have already started their application have until August 2023 to submit using the old forms.
