Key quote

Where we are now, I think it is wise to explore both [hydrogen and electric fuels]... both will be used in the future, depending on availability and infrastructure.

This might look different in different parts of the world.

Where hydrogen will be available, it's a good solution. Then in other places where green electricity is available, it could be a smaller step to make towards CO2 neutral solutions.

[At Volvo CE] we believe that we will need both, and we are working out how to do this in a balanced way. My feeling is that it's currently progressing faster on the electric side, as you see in the car industry, the battery development is moving very fast right now - and we can leverage that.

Hydrogen, from an overall infrastructure point of view, is going to be needed to get the amount of green electricity that society requires. So it will come, but it might take a bit longer before it is available in the same way as electricity is right now.
