The Trees and Design Action Group (TDAG) have today published Trees in Hard Landscapes: A Guide for Delivery.
The guide explores the practical challenges and solutions for integrating trees in 21st century streets, civic spaces and surface car parks, detailing the process, design and technical options.
The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) were part of the steering group which reviewed and advised on the guide throughout the development process.
Other bodies on the steering group include the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF).
A spokesperson for CIHT said: “We are very pleased to endorse Trees in Hard Landscapes. This guide will be of interest and value to the CIHT membership. It highlights the importance of innovation and the mind-set required to successfully integrate trees in high-performance hard landscapes in a 21st century context.”
The new guide will be of particular interest to highway engineers, public realm professionals and tree specialists.
