The Department of Communities and Local Government announced the New National Planning Policy Framework. This new document replaces over 1000 pages of guidance to just over 50. The NPPF itself is a replacement for 44 other documents.

CIHT are pleased to see the increased recognition of the role of transport and infrastructure in developing the UK’s economy. The institution has regularly called for a simplification and review of the planning process that was proving a barrier to investment and development.

A number of CIHT’s recommendations have been included in this final version and the Institution will be reviewing the guidance in more detail over the next few weeks.
