The new Secretary of State for Transport Philip Hammond has given his first statement since taking up his position.

Included in his statement was confirmation that there would be no third runway at Heathrow; a promise not to fund any more fixed-position speed cameras, although local authorities could fund them if they had the money; and Mr Hammond said: "All capital projects are going to have to demonstrate value for money." Also, the former Shadow Minister for Transport Theresa Villiers has been confirmed as Minister for Transport.
