At the NI Branch AGM on 29th April members listened to two fascinating presentations competing for the annual Colas award. Daryl Armstrong gave a presentation on the impact of chloride attack on a multi-span reinforced concrete bridge on the M50 in England, taking members through its demolition and replacement with a weathering steel deck. Ruth Mitchell. presented an update on her research on the durability of warm mix asphalts, setting out her research methods, the results and explaining the potential future benefits of warm mixes over traditional mixes. Both presentations were of an excellent standard and it was decided that the prize should be shared. The presentations are available on our 'archived presentations' web page.
