Laura Carse (a postgraduate student at Queen's University Belfast) won the National Colas award in Penrith on Monday the 8th February 2010.  Laura was one of four finalists, chosen from regional Branches of the CIHT, who presented on the night.  She talked on 'porewater pressure dynamics in cuttings'.   The prize, donated by Colas, is a three day trip to Paris for two, with a visit to the prestigious Colas Laboratories.   The award was presented by Arthur Thompson from Colas, pictured far left, and Chris Jackson, President of CIHT.   Laura has an EPSRC Case award sponsored by Golder Associates.  Her field work is funded by Roads Service and Northern Ireland Railways.
